Ingredients:
- 12 Chicken Drumettes
- 12 Slices Bacon
- Chicken Seasoning (I used Cookshack’s Spicy Chicken Rub)
- Bottle Store Bought BBQ Sauce (or homemade)
Instructions:
- “French” the chicken wing drumettes but cutting the skin and tendons at the base of the drumette (Illustration)
- Push the chicken into a meatball at the top of the drumette (should look like a lollipop)
- Wrap the bacon around the chicken, secure it with a toothpick (I was fine without using a toothpick)
- Put on grill using some type of stand (I used my jalapeño rack)
- Grill at around 250 to 300 degrees until the bacon is crisp (about 1 1/2 hours), use indirect heat
- Baste with BBQ Sauce and let stay on grill for about 10 more minutes
- Take off grill and let cool for a few minutes
Results:
These were definitely an interesting appetizer. I definitely would do these again and would recommend others to try. These do take a while to prepare, especially the first time you make them, so allow yourself plenty of time.
